I have an account. What are all these animal icons about?

JungleDragon has a unique reputation system that awards you karma points for positive behavior. Based on your karma score, you are assigned a class in the food chain. Your class acts as a badge of honour and recognition, but also gives you special powers. You can earn karma in various ways, explained here. Why don't you have a look at the foodchain overview, to see what you can be.

When you are signed in and visit your own profile, you can see the events recorded in your karma log and how much karma you are rewarded for each.

Can I have multiple accounts?

An account is associated with an email address, you can only have one account per email address. Although it is technically possible to create multiple accounts if you have multiple email addresses, we do not allow for it. It is more beneficial for both you and JungleDragon to have a one person one account policy. Note though that you can have multiple signin accounts per JungleDragon account. For example, you can associate your Twitter and/or Facebook account with your JungleDragon account. Go to your profile, choose "edit details" and then "Manage signing settings" to see which signing accounts are associated with your account.

Uploading and managing my content

How do I upload images?

When signed in, you simply visit the Upload link from the global navigation bar. If your browser supports Flash, you are able to select multiple images from your device at once and wait for the system to upload and process them. In case your browser does not support Flash, there is a classic single file uploader.

Although not required, you images will be appreciated by the community more if you also provide a description and tag it with relevant keywords.

Some users use programs like Lightroom to set EXIF, IPTC and Geotag information on their images, JungleDragon will read key elements from that embedded data to automatically title, tag and geotag your uploaded images.

Note that an upload quota is enforced on your account. The size of this quota is generous and is based on your class. This quota is in place to prevent abuse, not to hinder you.

If your image contains EXIF data, JungleDragon will parse it and show it on the image page. Images of a higher resolution will be awarded with more karma points.

What images am I allowed to upload?

Wow! Somebody edited my image details. What's going on?

This is social image editing at work. Users with enough reputation earn the right to edit the details of all images, much like a Wiki. These users are generally trying to improve the data quality and description of content. If you disagree with an edit made by such a user, simply open the History page from the image page. Next, find the image version that you would like to restore and click the Restore button.

If you find that a moderator is repeatedly vandalizing image details with poor data, be it on your images or someone else's images, you can report the user. Visit the profile of the user and chose the Report option. In the popup that appears, please select the reason for the report and optionally fill out a justification. JungleDragon administrators will take a look at your report and take action if needed.

What is a photo list and how do I create one?

A photo list is a named collection of photos assembled from JungleDragon photos. You do not have to be the owner of the photo to add it to a list. For example, you could create a list "The most stunning big cat photos", and add any photo to it. Others can vote on this list. Lists are a great way to tell a story about nature and an easy way to contribute even if you do not have photos of nature yourself.
