What is JungleDragon?
JungleDragon is a social image sharing platform for fans of nature. It is our mission to facilitate the creation of the largest resource of nature imagery on the planet. We do this by offering an engaging, social and friendly way to find and contribute images and other content.
Nature for all, all for nature!
Don't we have enough photo sharing platforms already?
JungleDragon is not a general purpose, personal photo storage service, there are better places for that. JungleDragon is focused and optimized for the topic of nature and its enthusiasts. The content, design, reputation system and feature set of JungleDragon is about nature only. JungleDragon is not just a catalog, it is a focused community that is trying to build an extensive, easy-to-use resource of nature imagery for all of mankind to enjoy. A resource where you call the shots.
Why should I sign up?
You don't have to. If you only want to view and enjoy the images, comments and other content of JungleDragon, you do not need an account. With an account, you will be able to engage in the community. You will have an identity and reputation that matches the foodchain of real nature. You will have a democratic voice and will be able to contribute, vote, comment, favorite , make friends and much more. Based on your reputation, your experience will improve.
What languages do you support?
JungleDragon currently only supports the english language for its user interface. For the time being, we recommend you use translation tools such as those offered by Google to translate pages. You are allowed to post text in comments and image details in any kind of language, although we prefer english for the widest community impact. We hope to offer more robust language options in the future.

If you have an account, you can follow users who's contributions you like. From there on, anything submitted by your friends will be displayed in your friend activity stream, which you can access from your profile.
How do I sign up and manage my account?
Signing up is easy. Go to the signup page and fill out your desired username, password and email address. Next, click the activation link in the email that is sent to you. You are now a member. your username, avatar and reputation now appears in the header of each page.
With your account in place, there are a few optional steps you can perform to further create your identity. If you want, you can provide extra information about yourself by editing your profile. Simple click your avatar to visit your profile. From there, visit the "Edit your details" link to provide extra information. All fields are optional. The better you describe yourself, the better you are able to engage in the community and make friends.
An extra optional step to further enhance your identity is to set your avatar. An avatar is a small graphic icon that represents you. It will be displayed everywhere you are mentioned. There are two ways to set your avatar. Go to your profile and visit the "Edit your details" link. Next, in the sub menu of account options go to "Change avatar". Here you can upload a new avatar. If you have an avatar defined at Gravatar, you can tell JungleDragon to use that one. The email address you used to sign up with JungleDragon will be used to retrieve your avatar.
I lost my password or my email address changed. Now what?
In case you forgot your password, go to the Sign In screen and choose the "Recover your password" option. You will be able to reset your password after email verification. Note that you can always change your password when signed in. Visit the "Edit your details" link from your profile and then go to "Change password".
To change your email address associated with your account, visit the "Edit your details" link from your profile and then go to "Change email address".
I have an account. What are all these icons and numbers about?
When signed in, your avatar, username, level and class will be prominently displayed. These determine your reputation in the community. JungleDragon rewards you karma points for positive actions, for example for uploading an image, or when another user votes on your content. When you are signed in and visit your own profile, the activity stream and chart show you which actions were rewarded.
As you grow in karma points, your level will increase. This is the number that is displayed next to your name. The progress bar in the header shows how far you are within the current level. And then there is the icon of your class, visualized as an animal in the food chain. Every few levels, you will be promoted to a higher class. Your class literally indicates your place in the food chain.
Your class acts like a badge of honour for the rest of the community to see everywhere you are active. But there is more. Your class raises your influence in voting and even gives you access to exclusive features such as viewing images in their original size, social image editing, social tag editing, and more. The higher your class, the better your JungleDragon experience.
For an overview of all classes and their abilities, go here. Ready to start earning karma? Visit the guide.
Can I have multiple accounts?
An account is associated with an email address, you can only have one account per email address. Although it is technically possible to create multiple accounts if you have multiple email addresses, we do not allow for it. It is more beneficial for both you and JungleDragon to have a one person one account policy.

The "View Sizes" option allows you to view, download and embed the image in various formats.

The less restrictive you set your license, the more karma points you will be rewarded.
Wow! Somebody edited my image details. What's going on?
This is social image editing at work. Users with enough reputation earn the right to edit the details of all images, much like a Wiki. These users are generally trying to improve the data quality and description of content. If you disagree with an edit made by such a user, simply open the History page from the image page. Next, find the image version that you would like to restore and click the Restore button.
If you find that a moderator is repeatedly vandalizing image details with poor data, be it on your images or someone else's images, you can report the user. Visit the profile of the user and chose the Report option. In the popup that appears, please select the reason for the report and optionally fill out a justification. JungleDragon administrators will take a look at your report and take action if needed.
